AC Milan Banned From Europa League Next Season

Image
AC Milan will not play in the 2019/20 Europa League after breaching Financial Fair Play rules, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has announced. The decision has been taken with the Italian club aiming to balance their books before competing in European competition again. CAS issued a statement confirming they have accepted an agreement between the two parties due to Milan's previous breaches of FFP regulations. A ruling by UEFA's Adjudicatory Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) in December 2018 stated the Serie A giants would be excluded from participating in European club competitions if they breached the rules again before June 2021. If they were unable to be break-even compliant, Milan would have been excluded for the next UEFA club competition they qualified for in either the 2022-23 or 2023-24 seasons.  Milan’s absence means Roma, who finished a place behind the Rossoneri in the Serie A table, will enter the group stage draw for the Europa Leagu...

Lukaku to Inter? Nothing is impossible says agent

Image
Romelu Lukaku's proposed move to Inter is "difficult" but the Manchester United striker's agent insisted "nothing is impossible". Lukaku looks set to leave United after acknowledging a desire to play in Serie A and hinting his future could be away from Old Trafford. The 26-year-old Belgium striker – who fell out of favour during the second half of the 2018-19 Premier League season as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred Marcus Rashford – has been tipped to join Antonio Conte's Inter. Asked about Lukaku as Inter reportedly try to strike a deal with United amid the club's £75illion valuation, Federico Pastorello told FC Inter News: "Lukaku is a dream, a difficult one to make happen as such, but I believe nothing is impossible. "He's publicly expressed his plans and desires. We'll see what happens." Pastorello who has been in Milan to also discuss his other clients, added: "We talked about [Inter youth player Edoardo...

USA, Thailand break Women's World Cup records

Image
The United States have set another record at the 2019 Women's World Cup. USA created a piece of history in Thursday's group-stage finale against Sweden as they set a new benchmark for the most goals scored in the group stage of a World Cup, men's or women's tournament, at 18. They scored 13 against Thailand - recording the biggest win in either men's or women's World Cup history - added three against Chile and reached the milestone in the 50th minute against Sweden in Le Havre. Hungary (1954) and Norway (1995) previously jointly held the record at 17. USA will take on Spain in the last 16 on Monday ahead of a potential quarter-final against hosts France, but their goalscoring exploits meant Thailand also set an unfortunate record on their second appearance at the Women's World Cup. Their hammering at the hands of USA in their opening match contributed to them conceding 20 goals at the finals, more than any team in the tournament's hist...

Aubameyang reaffirms his commitment to Arsenal

Image
The timing is perfect with talk of Manchester United’s interest refusing to go away. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to be looking at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a potential replacement for Inter Milan-bound Romelu Lukaku. What better time then for the striker who claimed a share of last season’s Golden Boot - alongside Liverpool ’s Mo Salah and Sadio Mane - to reaffirm his commitment to Arsenal . Defeat to Chelsea in the Europa League Final sparked suggestions that Aubameyang - who smashed 32 goals in all competitions - could be open to a move away from the Emirates Stadium The Gabon former Dortmund striker, however, wants to continue emulating his boyhood hero Thierry Henry by wearing the no.14 shirt with distinction. “I loved my time at Dortmund but when Arsenal called, I was really excited for the challenge,” he said.“I’d always admired Arsenal because of the big history and players like Thierry Henry. He was always an example for strikers and because I am also f...

Neymar tells Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he wants to return to Barcelona

Image
Real Madrid may have spent more than £300 million already this summer but it’s Barcelona who could complete the most remarkable deal of the window. That’s because sensational reports have emerged in recent days linking Neymar with a return to the Camp Nou. The Brazilian left Barca in 2017 for a deal worth a world-record £222 million. And it will take something similar for the forward to return. But it’s something that all three parties seemingly want. On Sunday night,  L’Equipe  reported that PSG would be willing to let Neymar leave if they received a suitable fee. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi soon came out and said he didn’t want any ‘celebrity behaviour’ at the club and that ‘nobody forced him [Neymar] to sign here’.The La Liga champions may already be working on a deal to bring Antoine Griezmann to the club but they’re now reportedly prioritising Neymar. According to El Mundo, Josep Maria Bartomeu is looking at ways to bring Neymar ‘h...

Man City line up shock bid for Eibar’s veteran Spanish keeper Asier Riesgo

Image
The Manchester City boss has targeted the Eibar keeper, 35, to bolster his squad as he hunts a hat-trick of Premier League . Riesgo, out of contract and available on a free, would give cover for No 1 Ederson along with fit-again Chilean Claudio Bravo. It would allow Aro Muric to go out on loan again, with Nottingham Forest keen on a season-long deal. The 20-year-old returned early from his spell at NAC Breda following Bravo’s injury and will be allowed out again, with Nottingham Forest interested in a season-long deal. And Riesgo is seen as the perfect keeper to come in and add experienced back-up after his 18 years as a pro in Spain. He started at Real Sociedad where he worked closely with current City goalkeeper coach Xabier Mancisidor, who has given the move his seal of approval.

Chelsea mark Lampard anniversary amid Sarri to Juventus reports

Image
Chelsea marked the anniversary of Frank Lampard signing for the club amid reports the former midfielder Frank Lampard is set to take over from Maurizio Sarri. Despite leading the club to a third-place finish in the Premier League, the final of the EFL Cup and Europa League glory against Arsenal, Sarri has by no means been a popular figure at Stamford Bridge. The Italian, who left Napoli for Chelsea last year, is widely reported to be on the brink of being appointed as head coach by Juventus, who are seeking a successor to Massimiliano Allegri. The switch was expected to be completed on Friday, when Chelsea noted on social media it was 18 years since Lampard, now managing Derby County, joined the club from West Ham. "On this day in 2001... Frank Lampard became a Blue!" Chelsea posted on Twitter in a message that quickly racked up thousands of likes. Lampard is regarded as a Chelsea great, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the 2011-12 Champion...
